With reference to your instructions to offer any remarks or suggestions upon the Memorial from Mr. John Burd to the Right Honorable Earl Grey regarding a claim for additional compensation for property removed by Government for the improvement of the Town of Victoria, in the month of August 1844, I have the honor to state that upon the occasion of the appointment of arbitrators, the Colonial Secretary stated in his letter No. 216 of 5th August, 1844,
that as there is reason to believe that a considerable portion of the house in question is an encroachment on Crown property, and that Mr. Burd
